In the setting of Vampire: the Masquerade, "ghouls" are humans who have ingested vampire blood. They gain powers with a price, but more on topic, many vampires make servants of such humans, feeding them addictive blood and enslaving them to serve different purposes: bodyguards, manservants, lovers, etc. Daniel is atypical in the VtM setting for many reasons, and his treatment of Joshu is one of them. He would never treat Joshu as a pet, but if he did -- this song is something that might result.
